Spring is my favorite season—I think it’s because I was born in the month of May, on the cusp of Summer. Flowers are beautiful all during the season and though the weather is unpredictable, they are most colorful in Spring.
Jim and I try to walk every day. Often we’ll wake up, have our coffee and quiet time, check what it’s doing outside and take off for our three mile walk. I always bring my trusty iPhone along for I never know what beautiful flower or scene I might encounter. There’s lots to see in my neighborhood. I’ll take you along with me today.
We start out briskly out of our cul-de-sac, a slightly uphill trek. We turn west, and immediately are rewarded by beautiful flowers. The daffodils are starting to fade, but the tulips are at their prime.
You can count on different varieties of flowering plum trees displaying their beauty.
The birds of all kinds are chirping and singing. I like to think it’s because they’re happy, but I googled it, and the birdsong is mostly the male birds attempting to attract mates, and warn away others from their territory. Their song is livelier and more frequent in the morning. I love waking up to them and hearing them chatter as we walk. I’ll never forget this robin, pecking at the window. He was an encouragement to me when I was broken with grief. He visited me for about a week, like he was peering in, to see if I was all right.
We have lots of rain in spring, the average for our area is a little more than three inches. It seems like we’re having more rainfall, but perhaps that’s because we’ve had such a wet winter.
Instead of more words, I’m going to share some of my photos–mostly in my neighborhood:
I love what Solomon says in his Song:
Flowers appear on the earth;
The season of singing has come. Song of Solomon 2:12
Perhaps this spring, you’re just going to enjoy the beauty of the flowers and you don’t feel like singing. I understand, I’ve been there myself. You still can still enjoy the flowers…Here’s a short video of one of my morning walks:
