20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen (Ephesians 3:20-21).
In our bedroom, lies a quilt. It’s beautiful and was lovingly made by two of my granddaughters. 
What is more beautiful are the white squares that have writing on them. Some of the ink is fading a bit. The quilt is seven years old, now. What is on the white squares? Little messages from those attending our wedding seven years ago. Instead of a guest book, we asked those attending to write a message on a quilt square.

As you can see, some were written and there would be enough to make two charming quilts with sweet remembrances on each quilt. One is on our bed, the other in the hallway. I often glance at both of them and read the little messages. Some make me smile.

I smile when I read the above…..
And then I noticed something. Some of those who signed the quilt were no longer here on earth. Here’s a remembrance for them:

- Don is in heaven

- Al is in heaven

- Roger

- Chuck

- Forrest
I know each of these people named and I am fully assured they are with Jesus in heaven right now. Although we miss them here on earth, we will see them again.
I am reminded of the verse in the Psalms:
Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his faithful servants (Psalm 116:15 NIV).
These people lived their lives and then God called them home. We miss seeing them here, but know we’ll meet again—on the other side.
Two weeks ago today, a member of our family entered eternity. We will miss his hearty laugh. His funny jokes. His gourmet cooking. His steady presence at our family gatherings. Although I don’t have a quilt square for you, Dick, we remember you as well. See you later–save us a place at the table!

Good Morning Shirley, I’m sorry for the earthly loss of this beloved one about whom you have written so eloquently. As my husband and i get older, death is becoming more and more a part of our lives. How precious that you have personal messages, handwritten, from earthly friends and relatives–saints now in heaven.

I know they’ve enjoyed learning great skills with you. It is good to have “older” ears to mentor these dear kids as they grow and change. Glad you’ve been in their lives.
