God looks at us with tenderness and mercy.

There is nothing more beautiful to me than seeing a new mother tenderly hold her newborn in her arms. She’s carried and nurtured that baby for nine months and at last, she gets to hold her babe. Most of us experience the joy of holding our baby in those tender first few months. So quickly the time passes and they’re all grown up on their own and eventually, holding their own little one. God looks at us with tenderness and mercy.

Mama and baby

He is there.

The older I get, the more I depend on the mercy of God. I love how He is so available all the time–even when I can’t sleep, He is there. When I’m walking in the warm sun and enjoying the sights around me–the berries on the bushes, the crimson leaves on the trees, the brush of pink in the sky I see right now as the sun rises, He is there.

The quality of mercy is not strain’d.

Shakespeare reflected on mercy, too. I love this poem:

The quality of mercy is not strain’d.
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven….
But mercy is above this sceptered sway;
It is enthroned in the heart of kings;
It is an attribute to God himself;
And earthly power doth then show likest God’s
When mercy seasons justice.

William Shakespeare from The Merchant of Venice

He is there. Full of mercy.

My hope for you is you can sense the tender mercies of our loving Heavenly Father. My daddy is no longer on earth, but I can always count on my Father in Heaven to be there whenever I call on Him. In the middle of the night. During my morning walk. While I enjoy a good cup of coffee. Anytime. He is there. Full of mercy.
