I’ve been reading through the entire Bible this year and am now in the book of Isaiah. During the periods of my life when I was in mourning, this book was a favorite.

I’m in a period of mourning right now. For my friend who died ten days ago. For a friend whose son just died. For an acquaintance whose husband died suddenly and posted she’s shattered into a billion pieces.

It seems our world is spinning out of control. Our country is more divided than ever. People don’t talk to each other—or avoid certain topics for fear our beliefs are not the same as theirs. Mask up? Get vaccinated? Election results? I could go on but I won’t–you get the idea.We don’t easily exchange ideas these days. A recent poll said 77% of people self-censure their comments on these issues because they are afraid of the reaction of others (quoted by David Barton last Sunday).What’s to be done? Where do we turn? Here’s what I read yesterday in my reading of Isaiah:

Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost (Isaiah 55:1 NIV).

This is an invitation to all of the human race. Not just the Jews, but also to the Gentiles—because it is universal. Jesus promised that:

Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them (John 7:37-38NIV).

I’m thirsty! Are you?

We’re camping this week in a beautiful woodsy setting with a river nearby. Here’s a link to a song about the water Jesus was speaking of:https://youtu.be/LA9UfBEHciY

The video shows a stream of water much like the river near our campsite.

Are you thirsty Are you empty Come and drink these Living Waters (Getty Music).

Thanks for reading my blog. Please do take the time to click on the link above and listen to the song and watch the beautiful stream of water.
