We are on a cruise for the next couple of weeks, sailing to the Hawaiian Islands. The ocean draws me closer to the Creator of the world. So vast. Not only is the Pacific the largest body of water, all of the continents could fit into this ocean. NOAA describes the Pacific Ocean as the largest and deepest ocean basin on Earth, covering more than 155 million square kilometers (60 million square miles) and averaging a depth of 4,000 meters (13,000 feet). Sitting on our balcony, I view this vast body of water and am amazed!

The psalmist recognized the depth of God’s presence below:
9 If I ride the wings of the morning,
if I dwell by the farthest oceans,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
and your strength will support me (Psalms 139:9-10 NLT).
The next few weeks as we anticipate Christmas, let’s worship the Creator.
O come, O come, Immanuel,
and ransom captive Israel
that mourns in lonely exile here
until the Son of God appear.
Maybe this year, you feel alone in this world, alienated from a friend or family member. Or are you waiting for an answer–a job–a spouse? Focus here:
You are my refuge and my shield;
your word is my source of hope (Psalm 119:114).
Draw close to the Savior this season and enjoy the choir below. If you don’t feel like singing, read the words of the many Christmas carols.
