6 Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7 NET).
At a prayer meeting I attend each week, we meditated on the above verses before we began to pray. The command, in every situation, through prayer and petition with (emphasis mine) thanksgiving, tell your requests to God, hit me straight on.
How often to we do give thanks when we ask? I definitely pray about a lot of things, but how often do I pray with thanksgiving? If I am honest, not as often as I should.
How about you? Do you, as I often do, forget to do the second part of that command, “in every situation…with thanksgiving”? Will you join me this week when we pray to bring to God our requests, we also give thanks?
