God’s way is perfect.
    All the Lord’s promises prove true.
    He is a shield for all who look to him for protection (2 Samuel 22:31).

It has been a week of sleepless nights. Hopeful doctor office calls to help with the pain. Peace in the night.

Through all of the uncertainty, we found–and continue to find–hope in God. This morning I read in 2 Samuel 22. In the Bible reading, I was instructed to list all of the verbs of what God does. Here are a few.

God:

saves me

hears me

opens heaven–comes down

shot arrows–scatter enemies

rescues me

supports me

leads me to safety

rewards me for doing right

restores

lights darkness

strengthens

Now I ask you to apply some of those verbs to your situation today. I love this hymn published in 1907:

He Will Hold me Fast:

VERSE 1
When I fear my faith will fail,
Christ will hold me fast;
When the tempter would prevail,
He will hold me fast.
I could never keep my hold
Through life’s fearful path;
For my love is often cold;
He must hold me fast.REFRAIN
He will hold me fast,
He will hold me fast;
For my Savior loves me so,
He will hold me fast.
VERSE 2
Those He saves are His delight,
Christ will hold me fast;
Precious in His holy sight,
He will hold me fast.
He’ll not let my soul be lost;
His promises shall last;
Bought by Him at such a cost,
He will hold me fast.
VERSE 3
For my life He bled and died,
Christ will hold me fast;
Justice has been satisfied;
He will hold me fast.
Raised with Him to endless life,
He will hold me fast
‘Till our faith is turned to sight
When He comes at last! (Ada Habershon, 1861-1918).
One of my faithful readers told me she never listens to the songs I include in my blogs. I urge you to listen to this one. It is so hopeful during this time of extreme uncertainty whatever your situation is:
Here is a choral rendition of this song:

We don’t know the outcome of Jim’s pain, that I wrote about last week, but are finding out more. We have seen God work through circumstances thought impossible. Immediate care–after we returned home from our camping trip. A procedure that usually takes six weeks to take place was performed. An MRI that one doctor said the insurance company would not approve, yet in one day, they called us to come in the next day. Today we find out the results. Whatever they are, I am encouraged by the words to the above hymn. I hope you are too.He will hold me fast. He will hold you fast, too.
