I sense a change in seasons. It’s no longer light before five a.m. In spite of rising heat in the afternoon, it feels cool outside in early morning. I heard an evening cricket that is a sure sign of late summer. Although I love the sound of crickets, I mourn just a little the changes taking place. Do you feel that way too? A sprinkling of sadness.
This has been a busy week. I’ve been scurrying around the past couple of days, preparing for our big road trip.
Road trips are my favorite mode of travel. This time we are pulling a camping trailer so it will be quite convenient, but there is still preparation before leaving. I also need to prepare for the retreat where I will meet my peers. Thoughts of inadequacy creep into my mind.
Yesterday, I read a prayer that someone wrote to those of us attending the retreat. She is not able to attend but she said she would pray for those who were. Here’s what she wrote:
This year I’m praying that the Lord will bless you with new friendships, new mentors, helpful instruction, God-sized opportunities, and miraculous breakthroughs in your writing and ministries. May you know God’s goodness and faithfulness in new ways as you continue to write for Him, and may you be enriched by His Spirit in ways you couldn’t possibly have imagined.
Wow! Well, St. Charles, Missouri, here we come! That was all I needed to hear. The rest of the day sailed by.
How about you? Do you need encouragement? A new way of looking at something? I love what I read this morning. It’s a reminder to me and I hope to you as well:
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this (Psalm 37:4-5 NIV).
Delight. Commit. Trust. Then He promises to do give you the desires of your heart. I can’t ask for anything more. Can you?
I’ll let you know how the trip goes from time to time. Rudy will be traveling with us too.
I love that Psalm. Enjoy your trip. Praying for your safety & many blessings.

Thank you Kathleen!
