Sometimes, going to the Bible is the best place to go. This morning, I was directed through a meditation I read, to read certain passages in the Bible. Here are a few that encouraged me and gave me hope today. God’s words are best and is Truth. Nothing compares.
First he reminds us to “Be Still”.
God promises to give power to those who are tired and worn out. He will give strength “as eagles”–Isaiah 40:29-31.
In the Psalms, God tells us to “be still and know he is God.” He also says he is our “rock and defense.”
When I was in the hospital, years ago, I’d just given birth to a baby who had died in my womb. I was devastated when the doctor told me my baby was dead. They induced labor, and as I waited, I was under the care of several nurses. One of them gave this promise to me in a note and I’ll never forget her words. Here’s what she wrote:
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39 NLT).
I can tell you friends, I have not been separated from God. I’ve had hard things happen in my life, but God was there. He was present in difficulties in a marriage. In sickness. In death. In broken relationships. NOTHING separated me–and you from the love of God. Perhaps you can reflect on words that encouraged me and rest in those words as they did to me, then and now.
Let’s enjoy the knowledge that there is a God, He is our Rock, He will renew our strength, and nothing can separate us from the love of God. Nothing.
As I look at these photos, I’m reminded of a hymn I sang many times in church in my early days. Enjoy the song with the photos. Rest in the day. In the winter. Rest in the promises of God.

Happy to have connected with you. We didn’t really know each other in school.
I am too. I can see you in my mind’s eye, a tall, slender girl. Quiet and unassuming. Well, we know each other now! I wonder if our class will have another reunion? Hope we can catch up face to face again! Best, Shirley
The photos were beautiful and oh how I miss these old songs and the hymns!
Thanks Deb! I miss them too. So rich. Hugs to you!
