I run in the path of your commands,
for you have broadened my understanding (Psalm 119:32 NIV).
Do you feel like the world as we know it is whirling out of control? Do you wonder if “normal” will ever return? I’m not sure, but this I do know. God is still sovereign. He is worthy of praise. Worthy to be worshiped. Worthy to run in the path of His commands.
I enjoy looking at different translations of Scripture and sometimes the bluntness of The Message is refreshing. Here’s a passage where the psalmist is asking God for wisdom:
I grasp and cling to whatever you tell me;
God, don’t let me down!
I’ll run the course you lay out for me
if you’ll just show me how.
That’s how it feels to me. Watching the news distresses me. I miss Walter Cronkite! I do know where to run, though. I do know where there is Truth.
Throughout the Psalms, we are pointed to God. The heavens declare the glory of God. The precepts of the LORD are right. The commands of the LORD are radiant. The fear of the LORD is pure and endures forever.
Back to The Message:
The revelation of God is whole
and pulls our lives together.
The signposts of God are clear
and point out the right road.
The life-maps of God are right,
showing the way to joy. (Psalm 19:7-8)
There’s our answer. When you wonder where to turn. Who to believe. What is normal. Run to Him. Trust Him. He is worthy to be trusted like no other. Trust the signpost of Scripture.
I remember a little song from Sunday school. It goes like this:
The B-I-B-L-E
Yes, that’s the book for me.
I stand alone on the Word of God
The B-I-B-L-E
The only trustworthy place to believe is in that song. The Bible.Run the course. Run to the Truth you know.
Where in the Bible? Start with the Psalms. Explore the New Testament–the right side of the Bible. Then read Genesis where it all begins.
Praising God again for you today, Shirley. i want to help spread His Word again, too, but feel my hands are tied right now. I keep praying for Him to show me my purpose…which is to honor Him and to spread His and love to the world ,…..but how exactly? I taught Sunday School for 25 plus years, was a counselor at pregnancy ctr for unwed mothers, served as Deacon at 3 churches, led adult Bible classes in Ohio, and led knitting group for missions in Ore….now i need to find my niche in Hatley. Please show me, Lord. Thank you for sharing, Shirley
Thank you Diane. God will use you–wherever you are!
