I’ve been learning more about God through his attributes. One of them is Imminence. God is big and everywhere. Up above. Down below. Right here.

My soul, wait silently…
He is there.

My soul, wait silently for God alone,

For my expectation is from Him.

He only is my rock and my salvation;

He is my defense;

I shall not be moved. (Psalm 62: 5,6)

We were watching a drama last night that was set in modern England, on the southwest coast. One of the characters remarked to the Church of England priest who tried to give comfort to him—his wife had died—with this quip,

“Everyone needs a bit of God.”

I thought about that. A “bit” of God? Why not take the whole—He is there. Up. Down. All around. Without it, I would falter with so many things that happen in life.

If you are wondering if He is there, know that He is. The psalmist David from long ago said He was. I do too.
