When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. (Psalm 56:3)

There are fears…..

There have been many times that I’ve been afraid in my life. As a young child, the fears were different, though no less great  than my adult fears. As a youngster, I was terribly afraid of the dark. Even walking through the dark kitchen to get to the bathroom in the evenings scared me. The light switch was at the end of the kitchen and seemed so far away–it was at the other end of the long (to me anyway) kitchen.

My fears are different…

In my adult life, the fears are different. I’m no longer afraid of the dark and often wander the shadowy house during sleepless nights with little fear. But there are other fears: Will certain family members make right choices? Will Jim get sick and leave my side? Will I get sick? Will my political party lose the election? Will it rain today? Will I get to my destination on time?

We can put our trust in God–whether the fears are big or small…

I realize some of those fears are minor, others are major ones we all face sometime. The verse above doesn’t stipulate what kind of fears we have to put our trust in. Just “when I’m afraid”. Pretty simple, huh?

I can tell my Heavenly Father my fears….

Looking back, if only I’d expressed my fears to my mom or dad, they would have said or done something to help my fears, but I didn’t. I just ran as fast as I could so nothing or no one would grab me. If only I’d expressed my fears to my parents. They’re gone. My fears are different now, but just as real. The good news is I can express them to my heavenly Father.

What are your fears?

What are your fears today? You can express them to the One who knows all, cares for you, and can be trusted!
