While on our trip to eastern Oregon last week, we went for a railroad ride–with a bike on rails. Hope you’ll join me–via photos. Joseph to Enterprise and back to Joseph–a 12-mile roundtrip.
It was a relatively cool morning, so we layered our clothing. The minute I settled into my seat and the attendant adjusted my pedals for a proper reach, I took off my t shirt. It already felt warm. A perfect day for a bike ride.
The air was clear, the Blue Mountains always in view.
They told us the ride to Enterprise would be an easy one–slightly downhill. Just a little upgrade coming back. We started pedaling. “Wow!” we said, “this is easy.” As we rode, we saw scenery not seen from the highway. We were closer to the farms and ranches.
Five times we crossed another road or driveway.
I spotted an eagle’s nest up high on a telephone pole and could see the mama or papa eagle in the nest, later when we returned, only the eaglets were there.
As we continued our ride, it began to get warmer. Soon, we arrived in Enterprise–about five miles.
Now it was time to pedal back. A slight upgrade, they said. It wasn’t quite as easy on the return trip. We passed numerous ranches and farms, saw lovely trees and even a stream. It seemed longer coming back because now we were really biking. I could feel my quads working hard. But it was worth it. Such scenes we were treated to.
We had a great time and I hope you did too. Click on the video below. It will give you an idea of what it was like. Take the time to play it–only five seconds.
I’ve gotta go now. Today’s Jim’s birthday and I want to make it special. Enjoy the day. Keep cool. Until next Friday.
