From Washington State and Back
This trip has been different from the others in so many ways. We've been many places together: Paris, Jerusalem, Istanbul, Normandy Beach, The Panama Canal, The Caribbean, and Australia. I enjoy our country the best.
Grief is Cagey, Yet God is Good
After I read that, sleep was impossible. I lay there, so heartbroken along with my son.
Travel. More Travel. And Why We Do It
What do I talk about when I share my story? I tell how God was with me during difficult times and joyous times. Not to get "wows." Not to get sympathy. Not even to sell my books, though I want them to read my story more completely. No. I talk to them because I want others to know that when they go through difficult times, they aren't alone.
On Wisconsin and Beyond
Our country is so extravagantly beautiful and varied. I never grow tired of watching the scenery go by my window. I’m grateful for the opportunity of taking this trip.
The Journey Continues
Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The beauty is more in the ruggedness of gouged out badlands, with juniper trees softening the sharpness of the deep valleys. At the end of the road on the North Unit of the park, we walked the path to the edge and gazed at the deep ravine, studded with rocks, and scrubby trees. Our voices seemed muted by the largeness.
The Journey Begins….
We've planned this trip for months. Strangely, though excited to go on the road, I was sad to think we were leaving our home, routine, and family. Once we'd packed all we'd need for close to two months, we were ready to go.
Pre Autumn Thoughts
There’s never a place where God is not and I’m so glad. He is there. For me. For you.
Fewer Tomorrows
Did you know you have fewer tomorrows than any other day in your life?
Riding the Rails
We passed numerous ranches and farms, saw lovely trees and even a stream.
We Went East to find West
We camped in the Blue Mountains, south of Lake Wallawa and Joseph, Oregon and here’s a little of what we experienced: the clean smell of juniper, the rugged mountains—glacier scraped sides, studded with boulders. Up high near the top, are grassy meadows. We are close to the mountains and they seem to climb forever to the deep blue skies. The trees display a palette of greens: the tall pines have an olive green cast, the fir a darker green, contrasted by the lighter mint green deciduous trees. Like brave sentinels, the trees cling to the steep sides.
He is There
I thought about that. A “bit” of God? Why not take the whole—He is there. Up. Down. All around. Without it, I would falter with so many things that happen in life.
The Marvels of Summer
I love summer with a new flowers every day pushing out a new bloom or more.
And The Morning Stars Sang…..
I wanted to pinch myself as I sat in the front row of this music room, where I could have touched the musicians as they focused on their music. All of them have traveled throughout the world with their musical gift. Several were concertmasters in major symphony orchestras. All possessed degrees of the high credentials. Such sound!
The Sale
“No, I’m sorry, you’re short $800.” I sighed, looked around the busy bank, not quite knowing what to do. I internally scolded myself. Why, oh why didn’t I recount the money?
