But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord,
I wait for God my Savior;
my God will hear me (Micah 7:7).

Every morning we have a routine in our household. First thing, our dog, Rudy, gets a dental treat. His focus is only on that nibble. He stares at either of us until he gets it. After we toss it into the air and it falls on the floor, he grabs it with his mouth and we stomp our feet to play “steal the treat”. He runs around and hides under a chair or someplace where we can’t “get” him. Every day, it’s the same. If we didn’t give him that expected goodie, he would pester us until we did.

Sometimes there’s a need in our life that we need to wait for. Sometimes it’s a job. A purchase that you’ve saved for and you are waiting for the right opportunity. Perhaps it’s a prayer you’ve been asking God for and it seems like forever and there doesn’t seem to be an answer. Sometimes it’s a medical test where you’re waiting for the result. A letter of acceptance for entry into grad school. A phone call from a child you haven’t heard from for a long time. Sometimes, we simply wait.

Whatever the waiting is, do we watch in hope as the verse above says? Do we wait, expecting an answer, just as Rudy does every morning?

It’s hard to wait. But that’s what we are to do. With hope. Then we can rest in his promise to hear us.

“Lord, whatever it is we are waiting for, give us the hope you will hear and answer our prayer. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.”

Enjoy the song about waiting. The scenes are from the movie “Fireproof”. God bless each of you while you wait.
